3 Birthdays in 2 weeks are hard on the diet.

Weight: 172 (I think)


In my household we planned poorly and put 3 birthdays in a 13 day period.  First comes mine, then my son’s two days later, and then the wife’s 11 days after that.  We try very hard to give equal enthusiasm to each one, but honestly by the last one we are all kinda tired of rich food and birthday cake (well, the adults are.  The kids….)

But, it is what it is, so I’ve just learned to accept that holding steady during this period is probably a win in and of itself, and I’ve actually managed to drop a little even with everything.

I got up this morning just before 5am so I could get my hour bike ride in, change, shower, and take the birthday girl to breakfast at 7am.  I normally weigh around 7am, so weighing at 5 on less sleep is kinda off my normal routine.  I was high 172 side, and I think it would probably been low 172 had I got on normal time.  So we’ll go with that.

The ride was hard!  My legs are wasted, but in a good way.  This time I really focused on consistent effort and my power results were much better.  There is no slacking with these things lol.

I can see where this 80/20 is going.  Yeah, I am spending a lot of time in lower zones but during the “20” I am crushing it.  I’m really starting to build confidence that I’ll be ready to rock this IM in October!

So I actually made the cake for this birthday, and while I am generally good at baking cookies and stuff like that, cakes are out of my experience.  Especially icing them.  While I am confident it will taste awesome, it has a definite lean to the left.  >_>

Probably should have let the frosting between the layers set before tackling the rest.  Oh well, it shouldn’t fall over and I’m betting nobody complains when it’s sliced up later tonight.
